Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tbsp granulated sugar
1 tbsp baking powder
1 tbsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp kosher salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
1 cup cold buttermilk
1.5 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
For the topping:
2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 425°F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
Melt 1/2 cup of unsalted butter and set aside to cool slightly.
Whisk the flour, sugar, baking powder, garlic powder, and salt together in a large mixing bowl.
Combine the cold buttermilk with the melted butter in a separate container.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
Fold in the shredded sharp cheddar cheese until evenly distributed.
Scoop portions of the dough onto the prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 15 minutes or until the tops are golden brown.
Notes
Ensure your buttermilk is cold to help the biscuits rise perfectly. Do not overmix the dough as this can result in dense biscuits. You may brush the tops with a little extra melted butter mixed with parsley after baking for an authentic restaurant finish.
